AhlulBayt News Agency: German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has reportedly acknowledged that the Israeli regime is carrying out the “dirty work” on behalf of Western powers by launching military aggression against Iran.
Speaking in an interview with Germany’s public broadcaster ZDF on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Canada on Tuesday, Merz referred to the ongoing Israeli strikes as “dirty work,” implicitly recognizing the inhumane and illegal nature of the operations, according to Deutsche Welle.
According to IRNA, Merz admitted that Western governments have failed to contain Iran through diplomatic or political measures and suggested that the Israeli attacks are part of a broader effort to weaken the structure of the Islamic Republic. However, analysts contend that such assumptions reflect a misunderstanding of the Iranian nation’s resilience and the strength of its popular resistance.
Germany, which has long been considered a staunch supporter of Israel, notably backed Tel Aviv in the case filed by South Africa at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), in which Israel stands accused of committing acts of genocide in Gaza.
